The body of the Pendant has a scalloped pentafoil shape, centrally set with a round Opal Cabochon in a millegrain setting surrounded by Seed Pearls with further garland decoration similarly set with fine Seed Pearls. The Pendant is suspended from a Pearl set bale and terminates with an articulated Pearl set Long Drop suspending an oval collet – millegrain set with an Opal Cabochon, which complements the central stone perfectly. He Opals display a fabulous play of colours with good green & pink fire being the predominant colours against a white background. The Pendant is stamped’15c’ on the reverse confirming that it is made from solid 15ct Gold and it is stamped with the co-joined maker’s mark’MB & Co’ for Murrle Bennett & Co, as shown, which was an Anglo/German company that produced jewellery for the iconic Liberty & Co of London among others and is now regarded as one of the most important makers of the period. This fabulous Pendant has the following dimensions. It has a total length of approx’ – 5.5cms (including bale). It has a width of approx’ – 2.3cms wide; and. The Pendant weighs – 4.0 grams. Overall this stunning little Pendant, is in great condition with only wear commensurate with age as shown; there may be a tiny historic repair to the reverse and on close examination with a loupe the central Opal has a shallow chip to the top surface of the Opal near the top of the stone – this not visible to the naked eye and won’t be noticed when worn but mentioning for descriptive completeness.
