Very unusual and unique antique Edwardian brooch, marked 15ct yellow gold. An arched frame is set with a grid of natural seed pearls and topped with a row of eight cabochon-set faceted square amethysts. The frame comes to a point at the bottom from which hangs a fine, pear-shaped, deep purple amethyst en tremblant. There is a sturdy pin on the rear and a traditional C-shaped clasp. Length 3.5 cms x 2.5 cms incl drop. A very stylish piece which is just as wearable now as it was when it was made 100 years ago.
