Cameo Earrings Brooch Archaeological Revival Set Gold Pearls Victorian (6420)

Antique Victorian Archaelogical Revival boxed set earrings and brooch – enhancer pendant. 14k Gold hardstone cameos and pearls. Made in England circa 1865-80 and retailed by Hunt & Roskell who retailed Guiliano and other maker’s jewelry to the likes of Queen Victoria and her family. See original fitted box. Measurements: Brooch pendant is just over 1 3/8 inch long (35mm); Earrings, excluding wires and pearl drops are 7/8 inch (21mm) long. Combined weight is 22.8 grams. Description : Demi Parure (set) consisting of a brooch that can be worn as a pendant/enhancer and a pair of earrings. Made of oval dark blue-grey hardstone with a layer of white carved away to reveal a beautiful goddess shown in profile. Curling hair with a diadem of laurel leaves shown in miniscule detail. Features are very Classic – see the sculptured mouth, partially open and very Greek. A ring of gold claws holds each cameo in place and it is surrounded by a ring of pearls. A trio of pearls drop from each earring and swing slightly as the wearer moves. Wires of earrings are most likely replacements, typical of jewelry of this period. The set comes in an original fitted Hunt & Roskell box. Hunt & Roskell were a very high end jewelry retailer, by appointment to Her Majesty Queen Victoria and other Royal patrons. The box is leather on the outside, blue silk embossed with gold inside the lid, purple velvet on the padded bottom and has 8 sides. Clasp of box fits and closes well and securely. Cameos are exceptional in quality and appearance. Marks: The brooch has engraved 10 and RU nh on the back. We do not know who/what this refers to. The wires of the earrings have 14k gold hallmarks. I tested the gold of the actual brooch – very strong 14k not 18k (probably 15k). Inside the lid of the box is embossed in gold with a picture of the Royal Crown above Hunt & Roskell Late Storr & Mortimer Jewellers & Goldsmiths to the Queen and Royal Family. 156 New Bond Street. Condition: Good with minor wear/restoration commensurate with age and use. The pin of the brooch was replaced some time in the past. It was detached and our restorer re-attached it. The wires of the earrings are replacements, as mentioned. There are a few border areas of the cameos that have chipped away. These are relatively minor and can be seen in the enlarged pictures. Sculpted faces in good shape. There is a tear in the silk lining of the box (on right of embossed markings). Victorian 9ct Gold Blue Enamel Garnet, Diamond & Pearl set Target Brooch c1885. A stunning Victorian 9ct Rose Gold & Blue Enamel Target Brooch dating to c1885, which is set with a Cabochon-cut Garnet, Diamonds & Pearls. (please study the detailed close-up photographs provided, which form an integral part of the item’s description). This wonderful Antique Garnet, Diamond & Pearl set Brooch, which weighs 14.5 grams and has a diameter of approx’ 3.9cms. Has been crafted in Rose Gold & Yellow Gold (unmarked but tests as 9ct Gold) and beautifully decorated with Blue Guilloche Enamel. As shown it is centrally set with a fabulous foil backed Cabochon-cut Garnet (diameter approx’ 9.0mm) within an inner surround of nine small Diamonds set on a Blue Enamel Ground within a border of Seed Pearls that are framed by a concentric circle of Blue Enamel to create a Brooch that is just sublime. As shown the Brooch has a glazed locket back compartment verso containing a piece of blue material and it is engraved with two names:’J. Typical of the Period this fine quality Brooch is unmarked, but it is guaranteed to be made from solid 9ct Gold as described. I t is set with truly gorgeous gems to create a Victorian Jewel of superior quality, which is sublimely beautiful when worn – needless to say this fabulous Garnet, Diamond & Pearl set Brooch will attract many admiring glances. Overall the Brooch is in great condition with wear to the surfaces commensurate with age, as shown. The Brooch appears to have all of it’s original Pearls but one of the Diamonds is larger than the others and may be a historic replacement but this doesn’t detract from this exquisite jewel and only really mentioning for descriptive completeness. To the reverse the’C’ Clasp appears original although the hinge and pin may have been replaced historically. In summary, this is a stunning Victorian 9ct Rose Gold & Blue Enamel Target Brooch dating to c1885, which is set with a Cabochon-cut Garnet, Diamonds & Pearls – it is quite simply sublime. As you can see from the photos the locket is in excellent condition externally with lovely detailing around the trim and the seed pearls are mixed into a beautiful flower set with leaves. The locket features a good working hinge. The rear has some very small dinks and surface marks. Georgian Forget-me-Not Diamonds set in Blue Glass with Pearl Gold Pendant

Here is a sweet Georgian gold pendant set with a dark blue glass cabochon with lines carved into the gold work that shows through to the front with silver work on top of a sentimental Forget me Not design set with tiny rose cut diamonds. Natural half pearls surround it with and additional wired tiny seed pearl surround that I have suspended from a black silk ribbon for wearing. It is high carat gold, it is unmarked for metal content as was typical of the era (late 1700s) but it’s more than 14kt. The pendant has a beautiful layered effect and measures just over 1″ x 3/4″. I have had this lovely treasure in my sentimental mourning antique jewelry collection for many years but only wore it one time. Even though all of the diamonds are prong set down into the silver design, one of them came out and was never found, so one diamond is amiss and that is possible too for the outer layer of the seed pearls but I can’t say for sure because I bought it this way; those are on a gold wire. It could probably use a good cleaning but since it’s older and closed back with pearls it cannot be immersed. I love it but I never wear it so here it is; probably for someone who is familiar with old jewelry and can have another tiny diamond set back in so it’s value would be significantly increased.
