My husband bought the pearl set for my B-day and he was actually the one who opened the box. I have knowledge about pearls, qualety and even how are they made, but these were below the cheapest qualety….. When we looked at them we were totally discusted…. The necklace had pearls that were imperfect- smal and big and smal and big… A few pearls looked like they were painted over, and one pearl was half painted and half discolored? ! … The bracellet was so small, and i an a skiny person – 115lb, that I hardly could put the bracelet on. The earings had a broken butterfly clasp. The necklace and the earings’ color ware totally different. I ordered this set after reading some of the reviews by other buyers on overstock. I was hoping for a little more color variation (the one I ordered had very consistent blackish purple, which most people probably prefer to a range of colors). This was a Mother’s Day present for my mom-in-law. She preferred them over the white or ivory pearls and said that black would go with more of her outfits. I plan on purchasing a set for myself. THE PEARLS WERE VERY SMALL. THE PICTURE LOOKS ALOT BETTER THAN THE ITEM ITSELF. ITS BEEN MORE THAN A MONTH NOW AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT CREDIT MY ACCOUNT!!! Received as a gift from my husband. The set is lovely. The necklace lays flat, and are strung well. The set includes a braclet I wear alone, not much of a braclet wearer anyway. Genuine Akoya White Pearl Necklace & Earrings Set Saltwater Cultured Yellow Gold

Cultured Japanese Akoya Saltwater Pearl Necklace Strand 18 Princess 18in 14K Yellow Gold and Drop Earrings. Pearls were collected before the Japanese Tsunami of 2011, so there is no chance that they carry any radiation from that spill. Saltwater Akoya cultured pearls are produced by the Pinctada Fucata oyster, which was the first mollusk ever used to commercially culture pearls in the late 1800’s. The saltwater Pinctada Fucata oyster is native to Japan, and was the first oyster that was used to culture pearls commercially, dating back to the late 1800’s. The Akoya oyster is known for producing pearls that are rounder, and more lustrous than any other pearl producing mollusk. Cultivating the saltwater Akoya pearl is a very delicate and challenging procedure as less than half of the oysters survive the nucleation, and only 5% produce high quality pearls. Pinctada Fucata oysters can only be nucleated once with up to 5 nuclei being used per oyster. After nucleation the pearl growth for the saltwater Akoya can take from 8 months to 2 years to complete. The pearl clasp has been flattened slightly from pressure, can be easily fixed. Very clean, barely used, beautiful necklace, kept in pristine condition. All of the blemishes are from having the items repaired. Gold Karat: 18k (stamped). Pearl Size: 7.3 mm (approximately). Pearl Shape: Round, Spherical. Body Color: White, Cream, Champagne.
