Antique Victorian Earrings Brooch Set Parure 18k Gold Amethysts Pearls (6906)

Antique Victorian demi parure consisting of matching brooch (with locket) and earrings. 18k yellow gold, cabochon amethysts and small pearls. Measurements: Weight is 19.4 grams. Brooch a little over 1 1/2 inches (4cm) long; earrings just under 1/1/4 inches (3.25cm) long. Description : Gently Revivalist appearance. Navette shapes – like ovals with pointed instead of rounded ends, edged with ropetwist gold filigree. The gold sweeps up from the margins to a sharp fold following an oval shape. A moat like drop leads to the centers, which have ropetwist gold filigree borders surrounding collette-set cabochon amethysts. The purple gems are set at their apex with small pearls within gold stars, impressed into the gems. Trifoil shaped appendages arch from centers to sides, appearing to link them, subtly echoing Gothic forms and foliage, with engraved surface texture that adds further interest. Golden spheres alternate with the arching Gothic foliage. Earrings are suspended from loops beneath surmounts that echo the Gothic-like shapes linking other sections. Gold granulation adds interest and is typical of the Revival period, as does the ropetwist filigree. Earrings swing freely as the wearer moves so that light continuously catches the amethysts and plays with the tone and color of the stones. Long gold wires are easy to insert and comfortable to wear. The back has a generous gold border, showing the ropetwist filigree and a ridge that can be lifted to access a locket. The locket contains very finely woven hair of a loved one. A hinged pin with c-clasp is in very good order and appears to be original to the brooch. Comes in beautifully shaped, original red leather box with green silk and velvet inside. Marks and Metal: acid tested 18k (tested brooch and earrings). Condition: Very good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Antique, Edwardian 15ct Gold Brooch, Set With Seed Pearls And Amethysts

Very unusual and unique antique Edwardian brooch, marked 15ct yellow gold. An arched frame is set with a grid of natural seed pearls and topped with a row of eight cabochon-set faceted square amethysts. The frame comes to a point at the bottom from which hangs a fine, pear-shaped, deep purple amethyst en tremblant. There is a sturdy pin on the rear and a traditional C-shaped clasp. Length 3.5 cms x 2.5 cms incl drop. A very stylish piece which is just as wearable now as it was when it was made 100 years ago. Victorian BROOCH & EARRING SET 14K GOLD, Amethysts, Pearls, Black Enamel (4X10)

An extraordinary, very fine Victorian Jewelry Set dating to circa: 1870. The Set consists of an Amethyst Brooch and matching Amethyst Earrings; set in 14K Gold with Pearls and Black Enamel. The two long, dangly French wire pierced Earrings are set with a large round faceted Amethyst with a gold star and small white pearl set in the middle. The outer mounting has an open-work filigree design. Beneath is lovely gold fringe in an elongated V-shape, that moves along with the heady. The antique 14K Gold and Amethyst Earrings are absolutely stunning! They measure approximately 3 1/4″ wide x 2 5/16″ in length (from the top of the wire to the bottom of the bead of the longest fringe). The prong mounted Amethyst measures approximately 1/2 in diameter (including the overlapping prongs). The large Amethyst Brooch matches the design of the Earrings but with two additional good size Amethyst stones flanking the center Amethyst. The center star has touches of Black Enamel and there is a Black Enamel motif around the inner mounting. An open-work filigree design. The bottom of the Brooch has a section of dangly Gold Fringe that sways when moving. The Brooch measures: 1 9/16″ across x 2 11/16″ from the top of the gold ball to the base of the longest fringe. Like the Earrings, the center Amethyst measures approximately 1/2 in diameter (including the overlapping prongs). The two smaller Amethysts on either side are faceted and prong mounted. They measure approximately 1/4 in diameter, including the overlapping prongs. The Amethysts are a rich purple and all matching. The central Amethysts picks of light from the back and front facets, making them sparkle from the inside out. The Pearl set atop the gold star completes the design. The gold Fringe was popular in the 19th Century and unusual to find it still in tact. This is an exceptional Antique Pin and Earrings Set. Do note that the Brooch could be easily converted to an Amethyst Pendant via a jewelry adding links and chains to the filigree. The Set is in very fine condition with two slightly extended small gold curls (located on one Earring and on the Brooch) and a safety clasp added at some time (marked 14K) with a built-in locking lever. The Brooch and Earrings were assayed to confirm their carat at 14K Gold. Also areas of tarnish (patina) are a normal part of age. Both the Antique Amethyst Gold Brooch (Pin) and the pair of Antique Amethyst and Gold Earrings shows very well in the photographs. They are just as beautiful in person.
