A fine quality example of a Victorian 15ct Gold Mourning Ring with an oval bezel decorated with a flower motif set with Seed Pearls. This fine quality ring, which weighs 2.5 grams, dates to the middle of Queen Victoria’s reign and is fully hallmarked confirming that it is made of solid 15ct Gold and that it was assayed in Birmingham in 1873. O verall it is in good condition with a crisp clear hallmark; however commensurate with age it has lost much of it’s black enamel decoration and it has also lost it’s glazed panel together with the hair memento it would have contained. There is also a pin hole in the setting next to one of the Pearls, but this isn’t noticeable unless held up to the light and more mentioning for descriptive completeness. This superb mid-Victorian Mourning Ring has an oval Pearl set bezel that measures approx’ 13mm by 10mm and it is sized as a UK Ring Size’O’, which equates to a US Ring Size’7 1/4′. As with almost all antique rings the band is slightly ovalized i. E it is not perfectly round and it measures slightly differently on the gauge depending on how it is positioned, however this will not affect the ring when worn. In summary, this is a wonderful.
