Antique Edwardian 1911 9ct Gold Band Ring with Pearl Set Witches Heart Charm Dangle / Size N or 7. A beautiful 9ct gold antique ring, dating to the Edwardian era this ring was made in the year 1911. This unique ring has a simple and sleek band design, and features an attached dangling puffy heart charm. The heart has a small sideway tilt, like a witches heart, and is set with a singular natural white pearl. A really special and unique antique find, ideal to stack with other rings, or wear alone! The witchs heart, with its bottom curved to one side, was originally worn as an amulet in ancient times to protect against evil eyes and from witches. In Scottish culture it is called the Luckenbooth heart, and in the 18th century the token implied that the giver had become bewitched to fall in love with the recipient. Size N (a medium finger size). Please be aware band rings tend to fit more snug than the measure, so this ring may be better suited to a finger size M 1/2 or 6.75. Fully hallmarked as 9ct Gold, Birmingham, 1911. Also has the inscription’Sept 7th 1911′, so we can asume this darling love token was given as a gift on this date. Weighs 1.7 grams. The band is 4 mms wide, and the heart measures 13 x 10 mms in size. The band is a slightly more rose tone than the heart, which implies that perhaps this ring was a’marriage’ or two pieces – perhaps the band and the heart started life as two different bits of jewellery and were united as one?
