Antique Victorian / Napoleon III demi parure set consisting of earring / ear pendants and a pendant / brooch / enhancer. 18k gold and natural fine pearls. Made in France circa 1860-80. Measurements: the earrings are approximately 1 3/4 inches (4.5cm) long, not including the wires. The brooch is approximately 2 1/2 inches (a little over 6cm) long. Combined weight 15.5grams. Note: ruler in pictures is in inches. Classic Napoleon III Victorian jewelry set – beautifully made in looping bands of gold surrounding openwork scrolls, bordered by gold knife-edge scrolling ribbons and set throughout with fine natural pearls. The open central area is hung with pearl flowers and more pearl flowers are swagged under the oval centres. Matching pearlwork on top – more elaborate on the brooch / pendant than on the earrings. The bale of the pendant is similarly formed by a pair of gold ribbon borders around fine scrolling goldwork. Fabulous French rich design and fine workmanship. I’ve only rarely ever seen a set jeweled in this manner. Nor is it usual to include crochet tambours or tatting shuttle as this set does. There are 2 tambours, each neatly close into themselves and are complete. The tatting shuttle is a navette-shaped item there to the front, and is a lace/crochet-like needlework tool rare to find in these sets. There are 4 silk winders, 3 original stars and one replacement (snowflake). Stiletto, bodkin and needle case complete the set. The thimble is solid 18k gold. All in their perfectly fitted original tray and box. Additionally, box still has working lock and original key. A museum quality set. Given time, one could perhaps find a 4th star. The old original mirror remains in place, as well. Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Over 200 years, fragile set has survived almost completely intact. One replaced star silk winder. The little bas relief medallions with baby Bacchus or putti face have tiny emeralds set in a crown and some of those have been lost to the centuries. Mother of pearl shield cartouche and escutcheon perfectly set into that elegant old burled hardwood chest. Key works the lock and is original, and the box closes tightly. An elaborate and excellent outer box of rich burled wood with stunning work in cut steel pin pique work. Opens to reveal the complete set of Palais Royal sewing implements, including the original scent flacon, bottle, still in their fitted lift-out shelf. All the very best goods, confections, social events hail from that center of high society. Trim and cap are 18k gold. Working lock and original key, original silk pad and the old original mirror still intact. Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Quite amazing to find without losses to the cut steel pique, but I see none. No warp, the lid closes and locks smoothly. Interior silk shows some age, but remarkable for age. The tools are all original to this case, perfect fit, with possible exception of the needle. It ought to be 18k gold. The one in it fits the space, but it is silver. The thimble is beautiful, quite thick, actually, and on one side it has a chip (shown in images) which doesn’t go all through, just flashes the outer rim. The needle case has a recess for a little 18k gold and enamel plaque, but it is no longer with the case. Top to the original tiny scent bottle is also 18k gold, as is the handle caps for the scissors, and trim on the needle case. A superb set – very difficult to find these. French 18ct Gold Heart Pendant, Mistletoe Set With a Pearl, Art Nouveau C1910

A superb French Art Nouveau, gold mistletoe pendant. This glorious pendant is heart shaped and is set with a tiny little seed pearl in the centre. It measures 23mm tall at the tallest point (this does not include the fixed bail or link) and 20mm in diameter at the widest point. It weighs 1.05 grams. An absolutely beautiful piece that came from a French jewellers who closed their doors in the 1920s, therefore, it is new old stock and never been worn. It is hallmarked on the fixed bail with the French Eagle Head hallmark for 18 carat gold and it also has the makers mark but I cannot decipher it. Just google: La Poste Tarifs International. We use the following postal methods. Paquet Prio, for items up to 2kgs in weight and up to 150 in value. It has a weight limit of 30 kgs for Europe and 20kgs for the rest of the world.
