During the 1960s and 70s, a new fashion sense emerged blending multi-functional elements of the traditional timepiece with the innovative ways to wear a timepiece. Women had already been empowered post world war two as the case designs of concealed bracelet watches were introduced and by the 1960s and 70s all the major design firms such as Cartier and Van Cleef had been on the lookout for additional new ways to wear a timepiece. Rare Gold Enamel Half-pearl Set Minute Repeater, Artful Emanelled, With Box

A rare, high-quality gold enamel pocket watch. Half-pearl set on both sides. With artful, polychrome enamel painting. On engine-turned, translucent cobalt blue ground. Date of manufacture approx. Manufactured for the Chinese market. This rare gold-enamel pocket watch with minute repeating is a masterstroke of the past century, it was made around 1900 in western Switzerland. Especially noteworthy is the high-quality execution of the gold case. The gold enamel case is half pearl-set on the edge and has the elaborately decorated band. The translucent cobalt blue enamelled medallions on a fine engine-turned background present the polychrome depiction of a beauty on the front and an idyllic motive on the back side with a gallant togetherness scene. The plain, very clearly structured enamel dial has radial Roman numerals and outer five-minute divisions. It appears expecially decent and elegant with blued Spade hands. The 14k gold case has a lateral slide for the repetition, which speaks for the high quality of this watch. The high-quality, stripe-decorated movement is protected behind a 14k gold dome. The minute repetition, which will be triggered by a slide at “6”, sounds via 2 hammers and 2 gongs. The repetition sounds loud and has a beautiful sound. Details on the watch.
