Unique mounting with two (2) prong set emeralds and two (2) channel set emeralds and two (2) rows of four (4) authentic prong set diamonds graduating in size and one (1) 5.5-6mm pearl in center. Mounting measures approximately 7/8″ long and 5/8″ wide. Pin measures 1 5/8 long. Weighs 2.7 grams. The pin is in excellent condition with no noted flaws. Unmarked but tests to be 14K. Oval emerald on the pendant approx: 2 ct, 8.75×6.84 mm, pear emerald approx 1.5 ct, 8.6×5.72mm. Total oval emeralds on the earrings approx 2.80 tcw, 8.1×5.9 mm each. For your consideration is one 18″ strand of pearls with matching 7 1/2″ bracelet and pierced earrings. The pearls are approx. 5 X 8mm in diameter and are a rich black that shines with irridescent hughes. The clasp is marked 14k with a makers mark IWI. Pearls are the birthstone for June. They are also considered to be a mystical birthstone for November and an astrological birthstone for Gemini and Cancer. Pearls are also considered to be lucky for Sagittarius. These promote sincerity, truth and loyalty. Also is said to enhance personal integrity, soothes, calms, yet focuses attention. At one time, pearls were considered to be important financial assets, similar in price to real estate. This was because thousands of oysters had to be searched to find a single pearl. Pearls were worn by medieval knights going into battle to protect them from harm. One story claims that Cleopatra placed a pearl in a glass of wine and drank the wine once the pearl had dissolved to impress Marc Antony. The beauty of pearls have often been mentioned in history – from Homer’s epic The Odyssey, to Marco Polo’s accounts of the king of China, to ancient Hindu epics. Crusaders helped to spread the use and popularity of pearls throughout Europe during the 12th and 13th centuries. Aztecs decorated the interiors of their palaces with pearls. Ancient Greeks believed wearing pearls would prevent newlywed women from crying and promote marital bliss. Early myths said that pearls were formed when oysters rose to the water’s surface and were seeded by early morning dew and the first rays of sunlight. Pearls conjure up images of some of the worlds most iconic female figures including Cleopatra. In order to prove that Egypt occupied a legacy and wealth that rendered it unconquerable, Cleopatra bet Mark Anthony that she could host the most expensive dinner in history. So she laid a table with bare plates and filled some glasses with wine. Removing one of her pearl earrings she allowed it to dissolve into her glass of wine and drank it, winning the wager. Cleopatras fellow adorners of pearls are royals, Anne Boleyn who wore a strand of pearls with a gold B pendant around her neck and Queens Elizabeth I and II of England.
