Set against a blue sky, the enamel portrait depicts Venus or Aphrodite dressed in white and a vibrant shade of pink, her lovely face framed by a cascade of long flowing hair and crowned with a coronet of pink roses.. Such exquisite imagery presented here, symbolic of love and devotion. Surrounded by intricately hand engraved gold framework and prong set with 2 small white natural pearls set in flower mountings above & below…. The intricate handcrafted gold mount to this piece is outstanding, a testament to the skill of the jeweler.. The central finely detailed oval enamel painting cameo alone measures 1 1/4 Inches or 31mm High by 3/4 Inch or 20mm wide and is perfect. The outside edge of this locket features two garlands centered by a flower and flanked by leaves. Overall the effect is impressive, the work is of exceptional quality and the portrait is gorgeous..
